Dealers, Start The Year With An Inbound Marketing Resolution

by Andrew Wells  |  January 11th, 2012

The holiday season for dealers may be over but your commitment to selling as many cars as possible is not.  Now, the cusp of the new year, is the best time for dealers to reflect and review not only personal goals but also your New Year’s resolutions to improve your dealership and keep your future on track.

With a more competitive and fast paced market at hand, dealerships are seeking the edge that will help them sell more vehicles than ever. Out of the many paths to success, the most effective will prove to be one which dedicates more resources to your Internet business.

It should come as no surprise that automotive consumers are more likely to use popular search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and Google to research the answer to their automotive needs rather than visiting your dealership in person. Utilizing inbound marketing strategies (the practice of creating content to maximize your online lead generation), dealerships can be found through search and make positive first impressions on their prospective customers. This type of strategy uses search engines and social networking sites to create a warm, welcoming feeling by allowing the user to navigate a site at their own pace, allowing the automotive shopping experience to be more user-friendly.

Most consumers today agree that shopping for something online is far easier than going to the business or dealership itself. When creating your business’s New Year’s resolution, try to ask yourself – “How can I maximize my businesses ROI in 2012?” and “How can I better my communication with my consumer?” -You’ll be surprised to find that the tools to answer these questions are available, proven and effective.

In the past, outbound marketing served as the means to reach your consumer -whether it was a phone call, a print advertisement in the newspaper, or even a radio commercial – but traditional marketing doesn’t stand a chance when compared to the prospect of being found by interested buyers! The enormous technological growth rate and decreasing attention span of the average consumer demands that dealers create a positive first impression online.  To do so offline is becoming increasingly difficult.

By providing website visitors the answers they seek and augmenting your site with the addition of live communications support – such as live chat - the end result will be strong online engagement, the right message at the right moment and increased lead generation. Inbound marketing activities deepen your connection with the consumer and improves your ability to construct qualified leads for your business in a shorter amount of time.

So, instead of going with the same old hard-to-measure and expensive outbound marketing strategies, start 2012 with a resolution that will make your dealership stand out to consumers.  For a better understanding of how outbound does compared to inbound marketing, make sure to check out Hubspot.com’s YouTube video.
